Welcome to the Coedpenmaen Baptist Church Mother & Toddler page.
Welcome to Mums’ Play, Coedpenmaen’s Parent/Carer and Toddler Group.
We started in September 2008 and within weeks were full. Mums Play
is the brainchild of Annette Holland, who, being a qualified NNEB,
wanted to put to use her qualifications and many years’ experience
within the church and community. The name was chosen not only as a
play on words from the familiar ‘Child’s play’ but to reflect the
ethos of the group which is to encourage Mums (and Dads and
Grandparents) to spend the time interacting with their children.
The
sessions are held on Thursday mornings from 10:00am until 12:00pm
and begin and end with a circle time. In between it’s all systems go
with floor and table activities to enjoy. The children have a great
time playing with the toys although they also enjoy creative play
such as painting with vegetables, making cakes or bath time with the
dolls. Half way through the session our helpers Joan and Sandra don
their aprons and get to work serving drinks and biscuits for which
many of the flagging adults are most grateful!
Highlights of Mums’ Play have to be our outings, picnics and
parties. Our trip to The Amelia Trust farm was most memorable for
seeing who could get the most muddy although our sponsored walk in
the park to raise funds for Romania (see our
mission page) was more on
the bright side!
Our
wall display is always changing although a regular guest is Teddy
who the children take in turns to take home. His exploits recorded
in his diary make for great reading during circle time.
